Winter Misperception
Winter is a difficult stretch for me. I’m a summer- loving beach person! Warm weather beckons my spirit. I feel open, free and unencumbered by heavy clothing and cold weather.
I’m looking at a tree outside my window. It’s completely naked–not a leaf to be seen. It looks cold, desolate and dead. Hopeless in this dreary season. Then I had the thought, “if only I had x-ray vision I could see the busy microscopic inner growth the’dead’ tree is experiencing right now, preparing for spring’s prompting right around the corner– magically transforming it into a wonderland of blossoms and lush green.”
Much like a magic show, ‘my’ wonderous tree is a gentle and faithful reminder to me to not always trust appearances. Nature is a wise teacher–mirroring for us not to trust appearances. Rather, it gives us the steady and dependable promise that spring always follows winter
Aah, Thank you, Mother Nature
